Merdiye Şendir was born in 1967 in Balıkesir, Turkey.She graduated from Istanbul University, Florence Nightingale School of Nursingin 1989. She completed her compulsory service between 1985-1991 at Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty Hospital. Dr. Şendir started to work as a Research Assistant Istanbul University,Florence Nightingale School of Nursing, in 1991. At the same time she graduatedfrom Istanbul University, Health Sciences Institute, Department of Nursing Management with a master's degree in 1994, Department of Nursing with a PhD degree in 2000. She was named as an Assistant Professor at the same department in 2003. She received the title of Associate Professor in 2010. She has been Professor since 2015.She has publications in national and international refereed journals, citations, book chapters, national and international project studies, conferences participation and memberships in associations. Professor Şendir was as a visiting scholar in Norway, Finland and New York - Binghamton.She is board member in the Medical Simulation Association. She is also the founding member both the Nursing Association for Clinical Simulationand Nursing Informatics Association in Turkey. Professor Şendir ismanaging editor of University of Health Sciences Journal of Nursing, also she iseditorial advisor of International Journal of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing. She has been Hamidiye Faculty of Nursing, University of Health Sciences as a Founding Dean since  2016.She is married and has a son.

MedicReS aims to educate researchers and provoke discussion about the good scientific method, statistics, ethics, publication, and education. Faced with stifling bureaucracy, competition for funds, and employer pressure to deliver results, finding the time and space to produce the best research can seem an arduous process. Events like the MedicReS world congress should help to emancipate researchers, refocusing them on the steps to ensure that their research is as rigorous as possible
